Fingal LEADER Partnership will be hosting two intercultural Training Workshops in Fingal during July, as a result of funding secured through Fingal County Council Integration Fund.
The Training Workshops will take place in the Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords on Tuesday 14th July and in the Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggna on Tuesday 21st July from 9.30 am - 4.00pm with carvey lunch being provided.
The workshops are being facilitated by Oonagh Hogan of Cultural Communications. Oonagh has comprehensive experience in the area of interculturalsim having worked as a language support teacher to international students in Dublin. Following on from this she was employed by the HSE working with the Social Work Team for Separated Children Seeking Asylum. She has been trained as an Anti-Racism Trainer by the NCCRI and completed a Masters in Ethnic and Racial Studies in Trainity College Dublin.
Training will focus on issues such as experience of migration, meaning of culture, culture shock, cross culture communication issues and value systems. There will also be scope for each participant to identify their own specific needs and Oonahg will address these throughout the day.
Workshops are open to local organisations, communtiy group members, residents associations and peer support groups in the Fingal area, with a recommendation of a maximum of three people from each organisation. A refundable deposit of €20 will re required per organisation/group. This is to ensure full participation on the training and will be refunded upon attendance.
